Corporate Events & Venue Hire - Exclusive Country House & Estate - Scottish Borders, Scotland

Go green

and be socially responsible

Set in 1565 acres of land, Chesters is surrounded by nature and the stunning Scottish environment. We know at first hand the importance of ensuring that, as a business and a venue, we are future-friendly and green. Consequently, we have implemented a number of green initiatives, including:

  • Green food – we use local suppliers and seasonal food in order to avoid unnecessary transportation
  • Reducing your carbon foot print – we will plant a tree for each event you book with us in order to off-set your carbon foot print
  • Reducing waste – we offer a paper recycling service to all our clients
  • Saving energy – as we are not a large conference venue or hotel we do not have air conditioning systems or expensive technical services, ensuring that the energy used per event is a great deal less than at the average events venue.

As a client, it is up to you how green you want your event to be. Whatever your needs, our Events Manager Jo Heaney will work with you to see that they are met.

Green tips

To help you start planning your green event here are our five top tips: -

  • Use paperless technology where you can – use email to advertise your event, set up a dedicated events website and use online registration. Where possible, produce materials that can be reused and avoid mass distribution of handouts by allowing delegates or guests to download information from the internet.
  • Share transport – save on energy, fuel and harmful emissions by sharing transport to and from the event. At Chesters we can organise dedicated transport for your guests. For smaller events why not car share?
  • Promote energy efficiency – remind people to switch off lights and other electrical equipment when rooms are not in use.
  • Request any unused materials be returned – these can be used at future events or can be recycled.
  • Tell them of your green success – by telling people that you have successfully organised a green event, however large or small, you will help to spread the word and demonstrate your commitment to a cleaner, greener future.

Corporate social responsibility

Chesters plays an important role in both the local community and the Scottish Borders as a whole. We take our responsibilities very seriously and have committed ourselves to the following: -

  • Providing local employment
  • The use of local suppliers and businesses
  • The development of long term working partnerships with local organisations and companies
  • Supporting local community events
  • Continuing to develop Chesters as a venue that is accessible to customers of various abilities.

Your event will enable us to achieve these goals and to develop them further. Each event is an investment in the local community and supports the work we do with local organisations and charities.
